One-handed Basketball Player Zach Hodskins Gets a Shot at Florida University

After posting a video of himself playing basketball, Zach Hodskins, whose left arm ends at his elbow, became a Youtube sensation. He has since been offered a spot as a walk-on, as an opportunity of a lifetime is presented for him to possibly be apart of the University of Florida Gators basketball team, coached by Coach Billy Donovan.

Hodskins had once played high school and AAU ball in the last few years. Although Zach has not yet decided to accept such an offer, he has two things to think about; a spot on a successful program without a scholarship, but still an opportunity of earning one down the line, and According to Prep Rally, offers by both Alabama-Birmingham and Birmingham Southern with a full scholarship.

“When I’m out [on the court], I forget my arm isn’t there and just play ball,” Hodskins shared with the News-Herald of northern Ohio. “Passion and love for the sport helps me overcome all obstacles. To this day. I haven’t come across anything I can’t do.”

“That’s what I’ve always asked for,” Hodskins, born without the lower half of his left arm, told the Associated Press. “I love when people say things like ‘he’s a ballplayer’ first. Before ‘he’s an inspiration’ or ‘overcoming the odds.'”

And if you haven’t seen Zach Hodskins in action, now would be the time:
